1948 Plymouth Special Deluxe - looks like Fate of the Furious car
Description
I bought this with the intention of making it a Rat Rod or an old time Gasser. I really like the way it looks and just saw the Fate of the Furious move with the race scene in Cuba and this car pretty much looks just like the movie car, but of course not the same year or make, but pretty close looking. I think this has the coolest stance and everyone I show the car to really likes the way it looks.
BUT....I am no mechanic and do not have the skills to make this car into a Rat Rod or Gasser...and to be honest I don't have the skills to even get it running with the six cylinder....so not sure why I bought it other than I thought I could find someone local to do the work. Unfortunately all the hot rod shops in the area are too busy to work on this project. So...I am seeing if someone who has skills to fix this up is interested in the car. I paid more than I wanted to for the car, but it is so cool....I really couldn't pass it up.
I have a spare 6 cylinder engine and transmission. I have bumpers and a front grille for the car, I have most of the trim in the back seat and in boxes. I have spare starters and a front suspension that appears to be the same year, I have a spare steering wheel and column. I have a bunch of other spare parts that go with the car.
The car had the rockers replaced on the driver side and the passenger side rockers are rusty, but I have the sheet metal to repair that sitting with the rest of the parts. From best I know...what the car needs to get it running now is to install the radiator (I have that in a box), install the gas tank (I have that in a box), hook up the brakes? the master cylinder is there, but the pedal goes to the floor...so could be it just needs fluids. It has a 6v battery, not converted over yet to a 12v. The battery actually looks pretty new. So, once you put fluids in, hook up the gas tank and radiator...it should start. I was told it was running at some point....but don't really know. The history of the car is somewhat unknown since the last owner passed away.
The interior is in decent shape I think for a 1948....of course it needs restored for the upholstery, but the original head liner is still there. All the windows roll up and down, and the glass is all in good shape, no cracks or issues. The doors open if you push them hard, but they do open. Frame is in good shape, rust spots on the passenger side rockers and rear back fenders. The car is in black primer, and you can see in some of the pictures where I washed the dust off....it shows as a shiny black when it is wet...looks pretty cool. You can easily just drive this car as is with the body if you wanted to have that Rat Rod look...it just needs TLC to get it running and make it safe to drive (needs the brakes working).
NOTE: mileage is unknown (Exempt). The listing wouldn't let me put in anything but a number...so that is what shows on the odometer...but it is not actual miles.
