1961 T5 Karmann Hardtop (Notchback coupe)
Dry Southern California car stored since 1980.
This is the project everyone is hunting. A solid SoCal body with no accidents, almost no rust at all, mainly needing mechanical restoration. It’s all here. It’s all together. Should be a relatively easy task to get it running. Rat rod or full restoration it will be an attention getter at any Porsche meet up.
The T5 Karmann coupes were cabriolet bodies with hardtops brazed in place by the factory. Many many have been converted to open cars, making this indeed a rare find. (The later T6 cars had integral hardtops and body and so are a very different bodies).
Originally Aetna blue with gray interior this car comes from a very long term female owner who purchased the car at the tender age of 17 at the behest of a boyfriend. She managed to hold onto the car all those years through thick and thin, poverty and prosperity, until age over took dreams of driving it once again.
