1967 Avanti II
Description
For sale is a 1967 Avanti II. The VIN RQA-0063 indicates it was a '66 model year, but was not first sold until 1967. I've owned the car for approximately 15 years and it was owned by my father for five years prior. The 350SBC (stock was a 327. Previous owner switched to a 350) has approximately 3,500 miles since being rebuilt 7 years ago. At the time of the rebuild, motor mounts were replaced, 2.5" exhaust manifolds were added, performance headers were added and the engine compartment was re-sprayed silver. Runs beautifully!
Both hog troughs are solid. The right side was replaced at the time of the engine rebuild.
The front discs were replaced with a Turner front disc brake kit, which uses GM calipers and '72 Mustang rotors. New brake lines and a dual master cylinder were added at the same time. Power booster replaced.
The Powerglide Borg-Warner transmission has been rebuilt within the last 500 miles, approximately.
Rocket Racing Igniter wheels and Radial T/A's have approximately 3,000 miles.
This is an A/C car, but the compressor was removed at the time of the rebuild. The compressor, pulleys and brackets are in a box and go with the car.
New power steering hoses replaced at time of transmission rebuild.
What's needed:
Paint and body. There's evidence of previous fiberglass repair of stress cracks on both front fenders. There is some spider webbing on the front left fender and a small crack on the trunk. All repairable. The car was originally white, but was painted black by a previous owner over 20 years ago. It will definitely need a re-paint. There are bubbles in the paint in some spots.
Interior will need replacement. Headliner has been removed. Dash needs to be re-covered due to sun damage by a previous owner. You can see sun damage to the top of the rear seats.
Some gauges are not working, including tachometer, vacuum, clock and amperes. I believe the tach needs a circuit board since the ignition was converted to electronic.
Driver's power window needs assistance and passenger window recently stopped working. I ordered the tool to remove the retainer ring on the door handle in order to remove the door panel and that goes with the car, as well.
