Triumph TR-6
Description
Where to Begin. I bought this car about 7 years ago. My second TR6. Went through the car top to bottom. Took about 3 years to get it all done. It's original color appears to be French Blue. It was repainted by previous owner Royal Blue. International Triumph registry says it was French blue when originally manufactured with black interior. No over-drive, No options at manufacture on or about Feb/March 1974. Previous owner sprayed engine bay black. (I didn't do it)! Has a remote engine start switch under bonnet for mechanic and ease of maintenance.
It drives really nice. I enjoy driving through the hill country and some of the winding roads north of Houston, Texas. All fourgears are smooth. Car runs cool, about 25% movement on the hot/cold gauge.
I had a local Triumph guy go through the car with me. It was re-wired by utilizing 3 other donor wiring harnesses. I went through the trouble to remove the safety belt buzzer and anti-start features to prevent issues with starting. In 1973/74 the laws changed requiring these "safety" features. Instead, they were just a pain in the butt. Electrically, the car is very much like a 73. It's much simpler. Also, no door lights, or glove box light. Had it removed as well for simplicity. All electrical items, bulb holders, bulbs, fuses, relays replaced with new. All switches as well. Installed Electrical safety key kill switch. Replaced all fuel lines and brake lines, and proportioning valve. Professionally refurbished gas tank, also has new fuel float. I added a vacuum gauge. Currently on LH drivers side in AC vent. You can move it or remove it. All new LED's in cockpit (rheostat) serves no function-good spot for the vacuum gauge. All heater and air vents in cockpit removed as I just don't use it. I still have it all, and you can install it if you want to. It's all new stuff. All gauges work (interior LED's in bulb holders).
Valves adjusted, car tuned up. Newly rebuilt carbs by car club expert. New floor pans done by a professional car restoration shop. Entirely done as if factory.New engine mounts, new steering rack. Tires are 2 years old. Protenza's. Rides nice.Triple primed floorsand painted, lizard skin underneath cockpit and interior dynamatt installed for sound proof. All U Joints replaced (6). All rubber bushings replaced, racing quality radiator, thermostat fan installed, fog lights. New heater box, new hoses, new clamps, new washer motor. Better throttle linkage installed, new bushings, new shocks, new springs, new rubber on all underside suspension mounts. New custom burlwood dash, matching Rimmer Bros. steering wheel, custom billet horn button. Matching burlwood shifter. Recent top with zipper rear, Toneau Cover, Car cover. New oil pump, new water pump. New 55Amp alternator and belt, spare belt. Rebuilt rear differential. New coil plus spare, plus spare rebuilt alternator. Spare distributor-(tuned and timed to identical one in car). Seats re-foamed for comfort. New carpet, new fiberglass transmission cover. Car is mechanically sound. Some small hard to notice cosmetic scratches on paint. I have paint code and recipe if a re-spray is desired and touch up paint. New rear view mirror. Nice chrome on entire car.gas tank cap, bumpers, bullet mirrors, luggage rack all good chrome. Rebuilt Kangol seatbelts and inertia reels. Emergency access bonnet release installed. Upgraded four speaker stereo installed. six inch in front, six by 9 in rear with sub woofer. Rear stuff can be removed to return to factory by simply removing custom box. Amplifier is in RH bonnet section of engine bay. It can be removed if desired and returned to factory. New interior crashpads, visor covers. New center plinth.
Here is the really cool stuff. You get my parts inventory too. I have a spare engine, ready to bolt on. A spare differential, I have two (2) W-58 Toyota transmissions for the 5 speed conversion, spare propeller shaft, two (2) spare rebuilt carbs ready to bolt on.I have spare brakes (2) big brakeToyota kits for brake upgrade. All manuals and tech data. Spare coil/distributor. I have a spare new in the box robbins top circa 1974, spare convertible top frame/bows, hardware. 2 spare cam shafts, one crank shaft, and countless other small parts. Spare (4) wheels/tires if you want them.Factory steel wheelswith beauty rings. I have spares of spares, and lots of electrical do-dads, and decals, and on and on.
Car hydraulics replaced completely. Converted to Synthetic fluid. All lines, fuel lines, brake lines, etc were inspected and anything suspect or even close to concerning was removed and replaced. All fuel lines replaced.
I am only selling because my oldest son is off to college. It was a dream to rebuild her and I hope she finds a good home. The mileage (odometer) is unknown. Odometer never did anything the entire time I drove her. Window wash sprayer does not work. I have a spare. All gauges work (except odometer) function of the speedometer. I have it set up to idle at about 1200 RPM. Start with Choke when cold. Once started, half choke for a few minutes and then off you go. I do not have factory radio. I installed TR-250 side door crash pads for sasfety. Can be removed if desired. They are just glued on. New interior kit as well. Good glass. I believe it to be all original glass. It appears to have always been garaged. I am believed to be 3rd owner of car. I will remove the extra decals on her pretty soon. You will notice the small union jacks up front and TR6 badge in rear. Those are adhesive and come right off.
