Description

ALL Matching Numbers. Frame, Body and Engine as specified on Warrant Booklet. An unrestored example of German engineering and reliability (at least for classic VW’s). Only parts replaced have been wear and tear items. The VW original Warranty Book from Atlas Volkswagen in San Francisco shows her originality. Shined up like a new penny after her triple treatment of the best DoDo paint treatment products (when classic car owners demand the best). A full buff, paint conditioner, followed by a hard wax. Then as recommended another hard wax within 6 months of your favorite brand. In the sun the Baja Blue doesn’t shine in the sun but as you can see, she shines.
She drives and stops straight. She’s still strong with last compression 135psi in # 1 - 135psi in #2 135 in #3 and 130 in #4. Never rebuilt and still going strong. Everything works as when new. Sapphire AM radio still works.
Interior redone by a cousin who I wish never touched it. Score of 1-10 I’d give it a 5-6. I’m being rough because I’m picky. Only thing that’s missing is the hose from the spare tire to the washer fluid dispenser. She’s still 6V and I’d have her no other way. I’d rather listen to the engine than an upgrade to 12V just for a booming stereo and other accessories to be honest. She’s perfect just the way she was made.
I have docs for all services, Moves to Arizona and New Mexico them back home to San Francisco Bay. Brought home from the hospital in this car and have pictures of family growing up with her.
Recent maintenance work in the last year or so. Valve adjustments, Oil Changes, Retorque lower head studs, tune up, new points, rotor etc. Replaced front end shocks, ball joints (upper and lower). Replaced inner and outer driver and passenger tie rod ends and installed new steering dampener with replaced tie rod ends.
I am not selling my VW out of need, space or financial reasons. I’ve lost my drivers license due to medical issues. I see her in my garage daily. It saddens me that I can’t do anything but start her up and listen to the radio. Here’s a quick highway video.

RUST
There is an opening of a thin X under the battery. The VW had been under sprayed with a protectant from the dealer that looks like thick tar. I removed a portion of it under the engine and cooling fins only to see shiny metal. It’s beautiful
