Description

I have owned this since 2005 and has a number of refurbishments and modifications including an 1800cc Type 4 engine along with suspension upgrades, Porsche Boxster wheels, a bare-metal repaint, and a new interior. All of the cosmetic work has been performed by the seller. This Beetle is offered with a clean Washington State title. The car had been poorly repainted at least twice prior to the my ownership. The body was subsequently stripped, fitted with new floor pans and wider fiberglass fenders, and refinished in the L98C iridescent gold. Custom-fabricated running boards were fitted, while the original tail lamps and front turn signals were removed in favor of LED units integrated into the bumpers. The car rides low over Porsche Boxster wheels shod in a set of 17″ Michelin tires. Suspension upgrades include adjustable coil overs, camber plates, and a custom-built Kafer bar as well as Porsche 944 trailing arms and 930 CV joints. Braking is from Porsche 996 Brembo 4-piston calipers and discs in the rear, while a stock vw disc brake conversion has been retained up front. A Haartz fabric top and headliner were added during the build, and a matching vinyl tonneau cover is also provided. Leather Porsche 944 seats, new door panels, and fresh carpeting were installed in 2013. The rosewood-trimmed original dashboard houses a row of auxiliary gauges mounted just beneath an MP3-capable aftermarket stereo. The 5-digit odometer indicates 31k miles. Total chassis mileage is unknown. Power is from an 1800cc flat-four sourced from a 1972 VW Bus through importmotor.com and installed with dual EMPI HPMX 40mm carburetors and an electronic ignition system. Exhaust is via EMPI piping running through custom-built heater boxes and a stainless steel Dynomax muffler. Approximately 4000 miles have been added since the bulk of the work was completed. Recent service included replacement of the master cylinder, valve adjustment as well as an oil/filter change. 31100 is on the speedo. Probably 131100.
